Hello,
I am reporting two related bugs. They happen in Chrome on Windows 11. Everything is updated as far as I know.
After restarting Chrome, it restores the tabs that were used before closing. Since a few days ago, Cookie Dialog Monster in disabled on the restored tabs: the icon of the extension is grey, and clicking on the icon does nothing. Reloading the tabs (one by one) apparently re-enables the extension.
However, the extension is always disabled in YouTube (the icon is grey and unresponsive, in Chrome browser on Windows 11), no matter whether it was a restored or a newly open tab, and it is not re-enabled by reloading YouTube. If you open YouTube in private mode, the cookie dialogue is displayed.
Regards.
Point 1 is now solved (maybe I had the browser or the extension not updated). Nevertheless, the problem described in point 2 still happens.
Regards.
Hi @alleluia20,
I've seen this, but I'm not able to reproduce it when I tried to. It could be related for trying to remove as soon as possible in the page without waiting for the page to load (a change made a few versions back because some users noticed that the extension was "slow" removing dialogs).
I would send you the topic where we discussed this issue, but GitHub didn't answer my messages yet about unblocking my account. YouTube support was dropped a few versions ago, it doesn't mean that you are going to see the dialog because the extension still works for
consent.youtube.com
(which is this middle page that has the consent buttons). We could have left the popup attached, even in those cases but with the button disabled (?). I'm going to mark this issue as an enhancement to try to attach the popup even in those fully disabled cases with some sort of indication for the user. It's true that it can be confusing.
For future references, you can see at
exclusions.domains
array indatabase.json
file all the pages that we dropped for some reason. In this case for the inconvinient fake clicks we discussed here. Thanks again for your valuable feedback!
I always the the dialogue for youtube now:
https://www.youtube.com/:
(Firefox 133.0b3 on GNU/Linux.)
I am not logged in to google or youtube.
Same here. As I commented in the opening post, the cookie dialogue is displayed in Chrome on Windows. Nevertheless, the dialogue does not show in the mobile browser (Firefox on Android).
Regards.
Hi both,
Have you heard about A/B testing? It's a common practice by apps like Google... they create different versions of a page or ways to navigate and test them by showing each version to different user groups, based on region, login status, or even just randomly.
I'd share the post we had about YouTube from the old repository, but unfortunately, it's no longer accessible. Long story short, it's best not to mess with Google's setup. Most of their services just won't work without accepting cookies... it's a fact we can't change.
Remember how we had those issues before with the random clicks? Some users even thought they were being auto-subscribed or something. That's not happening anymore, but I'm not going to dive into these complicated cases that ultimately don't solve much. If cookies aren't accepted, Google's response is often to block certain features, like pausing videos.
I suggest looking into alternative video platforms that don't require mandatory acceptance of cookies or similar policies. I can work out a fix for this specific issue, but it'll likely just cause trouble for someone else. YouTube isn't officially supported anymore, so thanks for your understanding and collaboration!

Hello,
I think you mentioned that Cookie Dialog Monster will accept cookies when there is no other realistic choice. Using this guideline: would it not be possible to just set the extension to accept Youtube's cookies?
Regards.
Yes, that's what I do when the
consent.google.*
appears (the extension declines them). But your case is different, I wouldn't dare to click there anymore. Sorry for the inconveniences.Hi both,
The extension menu is now accessible even if the site isn't supported anymore. This will give more information to the user of what's happening there. Please, update to the latest version.
