Feature allowing to quickly flag a web from the mobile browser #199

Hello,

I am using Cookie Dialog Monster on Kiwi browser on Android (well, also on Chrome on the desktop...). As far as I know, Kiwi is the only Android browser that allows this extension in the stable release of the browser (please let me know, in case you are aware of another mobile browser that allows the extension in the stable release on the browser…).

I sometimes come across some cookie dialogues on Kiwi on the phone, some of them only on the mobile sites (the extension correctly closes the desktop dialogues of some sites, but does not close the mobile cookie dialogues). Nevertheless, I sometimes do not have the time to manually open a bug at that moment, and I sometimes forget about those sites afterwards.

I wonder whether it would be possible to implement a feature that allows to quickly flag a website from Kiwi browser. Something as easy and quick as from the desktop browser.

I do not know whether adding a menu entry (which would be the least intrusive option) is technically possible in Kiwi. If not, I can imagine an icon that displays on the web when scrolling and hides when the page is still (there should be an option to enable or disable that icon, so the icon would not display on the desktop).

Regards.

Sorry, I see that the way of reporting from the desktop also applies to Kiwi browser and Firefox on Android. I have just installed Firefox, given that installing an extension from the .xpi file is now also possible in the stable release of Firefox mobile.

On Firefox on Android, I have installed the extensions "uBlock Origin" and "Essential Buttons Toolbar" (to be able to scroll to the top and the bottom of a web page), both of them from the Firefox's addons list, and I have manually installed Cookie Dialog Monster after downloading the .xpi file, using the method linked in the previous paragraph. By the way: is there any way to know when a new version of Cookie Dialog Monster is available?

To flag a cookie dialogue with the mobile browsers on Android, you just have to find Cookie Dialog Monster on the browser's menu and tap on it. I have done two tests: #205 and #206.

Nevertheless, in my first try I appended "[mobile]" to the title and, as a result, the report went astray, maybe because it was not recognised as a valid URL. As a result:

  1. I think there should be a box, or something similar, to state that the cookie dialogue appears on the mobile site. Alternatively, the report should include the operating system (Windows, Android, etc).
  2. I think that, when one changes the title, an error message should display (such as "error: the URL is not valid"), instead of the report getting lost.

Regards.

Hi @alleluia20,

Thanks for the feedback, also for your work testing the whole process. There's definitely an issue with this edge case, because you will see an error if the URL is not valid without spaces.

Good catch!

Hi @alleluia20,

The issue regarding the popup closing on invalid URLs should be fixed now. Please, update to the latest version.

Thanks again!

Thank you. But, what about the popup collecting information of whether we are dealing with the desktop or the mobile sites? You may wish to reopen the bug.
